Springfield Township Superfund Site: FOIA Records Received
On May 22, 2026, I submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request concerning the Springfield Township Superfund Site. Today, October 22, 2026, exactly five months later, I received 16,164 pages of records.
The documents include groundwater monitoring reports, laboratory testing results, technical evaluations, environmental oversight records, and correspondence involving the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), and other involved parties.
Some of the correspondence also addresses the proposed Ormond Road gravel mine and the importance of understanding potential changes to regional groundwater flow.
I will be reviewing these records carefully, identifying relevant findings, examining supporting data, and organizing the information into a format that is easier for residents to access and understand.
Given the volume and technical nature of these documents, this will be an ongoing research effort. As the review progresses, I will share relevant information, supporting documentation, and updates through Oko Environmental.
My goal remains the same: providing residents with accurate, independently researched information about environmental issues affecting our community.
Supporting This Research
Time is of the essence.
After waiting five months to receive these records, there are now 16,164 pages to examine. Reviewing, organizing, and analyzing this information will require many, many hours of dedicated research.
If you value independent environmental research and believe our community deserves access to reliable information, please consider supporting Oko Environmental’s work. Your contributions help make it possible to dedicate the time and resources necessary to examine these records and share important findings with the community.
All research and educational materials will continue to be made freely available to the public. Look for future updates on my website.
Thank you for supporting independent research and an informed community.
