Community Update: Springfield Township Public Meetings & Participation
Are you feeling ‘meeting fatigued’? You’re not alone. Many people are. The residents of Springfield Township and surrounding area have all worked hard to stay involved in the review process for the proposed Levy mine, and your presence and voices have already made a real difference.
Right now, the mining proposal is paused. It will not appear on township agendas until the official review process resumes. Current meetings are focused on routine business and technical updates.
Here’s what to know:
- No mining decisions are happening right now. The proposal is paused and won’t be discussed until the review moves forward.
- Every resident has the civic right—and responsibility—to speak during public comment. Your voice is welcome anytime but do not feel pressured to attend and/or speak at every meeting. This is a marathon, not a sprint!
- Oko Environmental is attending every meeting. If anything comes up about the mine, we’ll provide updates and give advanced notice for those meetings. At this time, we don’t expect new developments.
- Updates are always available. Summaries and documents are posted at okoenv.com.
- Strong turnout will be needed later. When hearings or decisions are scheduled, the public will be notified. Oko Environmental will email updates. You can always check the Springfield Township website as well.
- It’s okay to conserve energy now. Staying informed is a powerful way to engage in this process, even if no decisions are being made.
